Go Razorbacks!

OK, friends, here it is: I’m off to the University of Arkansas! I’ve accepted a tenure-track job there with a low teaching load and lots of research support. The sad news is that they were unable to accommodate Z, so it looks like at least another year of this long-distance bullshit. I suppose it builds character, or something.

  1. Congratulations! Sounds like you’re coming to my neck of the woods. David and I had a tough time getting into the same time zone after getting our PhD’s (and before, too), and we ended up being separated a total of 5 years. Hang in there!

  2. Congratulations!! Sounds like a perfect position. Except for Z, of course, but I hope things work out so you can be together soon too.

And I wanna come hang out with you and Madame U!

  3. Congratulations! Wonderful news! Tenure track, low load, research support. Sounds pretty nice.

But consider this: can the state of Arkansas handle both Lady Z and Madame U within its borders? Will madness ensue?

  4. Oh that’s wonderful

I’ve lived through my sister’s forays, so far unsuccessful, to move her academic career (and my travel options) into the sun. She’d be so envious! Best of luck in Arkansas.

  5. I missed this too!

    ACK!

All I can think is “you’re too smart and too pretty to move there”

But. . .character building is always a good thing. (not really, that’s a big fat lie, but hopefully it makes you feel better about missing Z)

Glad you’ll have a light teaching load and lots of research report! (and warm weather)
